i have had my computer for 4 years,,,, i got verizon yahoo dsl 2yrs ago ,,, i have a verizon online protection with it ,,, i recenly accepted a norton antivirus ,,, and fire wall protection ,,, its a 2004 i cant remore it,,, even wen i go to add and removed,,, from the computer and now verizon yahoo will not let me back on do to another anispyware %26fire wall, antivirus,,,, i cant get my norton antispyware,,, norton antivirus norton personal firewall or my mail portection,,,,what can i do now???? i remember pushing for up dates to be allow ,and wen i put my cd in to walk me thew my connection back to verizon yahoo ,, it still does it it just keeps saying uninstalled help!!!!!

It sounds like the operating system and or files on your computer are hosed.

Things to try:

Run in safe mode and run 'Hijack this' and 'adaware' to remove any obvious viruses.

Go into msconfig and remove anything that is starting up automatically at boot time.

Reinstall your operating system (I'm assuming that you are running Windoze.

Try installing Linux.

Remove the 'comma' key from your computer.

If you didn't like Norton, start reading online reviews about all the others - I like Norton, so it depends what your criteria are for a "good" product.

firewall I would go with zone alarm or better yet a hardware firewall.

anti virus I would say AVG , Avast, Nod 32 or if you want a free one clam win ( although avast is free to home users ) It is just down to personal preference :)

*shrugs* It's probably fine. They wouldn't be able to compete if they offered a really lame product... BUT... it is AOL. Frankly, I just don't care for AOL products (free or not).

I edit to agree with Gecko. I use ZoneAlarm for my firewall and Avast for my antivirus software -- in addition to running periodic checks for spyware and stuff with SpyBlaster, AdAware and SpyBot. But, I have never used AOL.
I would say, really... plz don't use any aol softwares or any kind of aol service.

Since it's Linux, you don't need an antivirus. There's maybe a dozen of Linux viruses (versus millions for Windows) and most of them long extinct.

It should come with a built-in firewall.

You don't want to look for -freeware-. You look for Free Software - GNU GPL. It's better than freeware and there are millions of these, all free, providing alternatives to about everything you can find on Windows. And just a click away, no need to browse the net for it.

NO! Only one anti-virus, and two firewalls but ONLY IF one of them is a hardware firewall and one a software firewall, in fact, that is recommended. If you want to scan your system for viruses using a second scanner, best to use one of the free online scanners.

you only need, and should only run, ONE firewall and ONE antivirus program - anymore will simply cause problems.
Norton, McAfee and AVG(free) will not install if there are other antivirus software on the computer. When trying to install it will say you must un-install the ??? antivirus before you can continue installing this one. Now firewall should install both or 3...I have Zone Alarm and Black Ice and they work together...But I have tried using 2 antivirus and it says un-install other one before installing this one. Install can not continue...Thanks
NO! They will see each other as a virus, and probably shut down your computer. And the same for firewalls. They will try to get rid of each other. You won't increase your computer's protection, you will kill it.
That is the best way I know of to cause your hard drive to crash!!! Never ever use more than one ant-virus or firewall....their software will conflict and you won't get as good of protection.

Best thing to do is to choose the anti-virus that you really like...don't be the reason that your system crashes!!
