I can't figure our my virus protection program for my computer. PLEASE HELP!!!?

I installed Norton 360 antivirus protection and it was working fine the last few days, but now when I turn my computer on it says in red "BROWSING NOT SAFE: AUTO PROTECT OFF. So I go in to the Norton icon on my computer and it say that Auto protect is turned off (I don't know why I never turned it off) So I press the button "FIX" next to it but nothing happenes. PLEASE HELP!! I don't know waht to do...I'm not very smart when it comes to computers???

I would normally suggest reinstalling the whole application. Some where along the way your program has a bug that Symantec will be best able to address. I believe the easiest and most appropriate thing would to be to call tech support. You paid for it.

take it out and reboot the whole system ; try reloading it ; if that don't work to e easier anti virus program like www.zonealarm.com ; or something simular
I have had the same type of problem with Norton Antivirus 2007. It is usually cased by a driver or service that does not load or stops working. You can check your event log for errors.

If you purchased 360 you have phone support. I would try to reinstall the product, if that does not work, I would call Symantec.

personally i like norton anti-virus, all you have to do is go to syntax.com and it should bring it up and you can also go to virus protection .com
Computer Associates offer a free Anti-virus program. I use it and haven't had any problems. You can go to Windows Catalog online and find the link under downloads.

I had trouble installing my DSL to my new Dell Laptop from home because it would only stay at the yahoo home page and go nowhere else. An AT%26T Tech told me it was because of my McAfee Antivirus being activated on my Windows Vista and Vista has a lot of security. So he told me to go to msconfig and uncheck everything in the startup and running that says McAfee. I did and now my internet runs but I am scared to use it because I dont have the antivirus protection right? What do I do? Do I go back and check everything or just some of them? Which ones if so?

I would uninstall McAfee and go with a less resource heavy program like AVG free. It will still give you antivirus protection but won't eat resources like McAfee

Is the antivirus software you buy on eBay as good as that you buy directly from Semantic. It says they remove the scan bar for some reason. Also Google offers a free "Norton Security Scan" with their service pack. Is this good antivirus protection?

Very very dangerous! those are, or can be loaded with modifications including spywares, adware.

Those also are mostly cracked, refrenning supports from Norton.

Best advice; get the download trait from www.symantec.com.

I have downloaded the latest version of Yahoo's Norton Antivirus Protection and I can't get it to update. I get a message that says the Live Update is running in the background, so any changes to it must wait until it is finished. It has been running since March 16th. The Help Menu and Help Tabs are confusing. I am not computer savy and need someone to talk to that can tell me what to do. Can you give me a phone number or email address for help? It's frustrating. I have "un-installed and re-installed" using the Dashboard twice, and re-booted, with no luck. The LiveUpdate just keeps running in the backgroud, even after I reboot, and I can't get the current AntiVirus software updated. I think I have version 2007.03.14. Please HELP. Thanks.

Last time I used Yahoo's Norton Antivirus Protection also, but during updating, it always failed. It's never successful even for once, same thing like yours. So I decided to remove and use external antivirus. I think maybe there's bug on it

They do not allow posting it in answer to the bajillion questions here about antivirus protection. At that link is a blog post about free alternatives to mcafee and norton. There are no ads or spam or anything like that on the site. No one is making money from that link.
