Sypbot S&D has detected an important registry entry that has been changed?

AVG7_CC

I should deny change right? Since AVG is my antivirus protection. It also did that with Site Advisor? And some other important things? Why is it telling me these things are viruses?

Spybot's teatimer program locks certain system files and alerts you if a program changes them... just because a program is changing a registry setting doesn't mean it's a virus.

Your registry changes all the time. If you are not running something that needs to change the registry then you should deny it... but if you haven't all of a sudden opened a file that is probably a virus then most likely the registry change is necessary!

If you don't know what you're doing I suggest you not put programs on your computer that you do not understand...

I highly recommend an antivirus/firewall suite from a reliable vendor like mcafee... as long as you keep it automatically updating you shouldn't need to worry about these kind of messages... it's only when you start listening to people who don't know what they're talking about and have you installing a bunch of programs that you do not need and do not know how to use properly that you will begin to encounter problems that could have potentially catastrophic effects.

You can get changes in your registry all the time. If you want to make sure there not gonna harm your system try using Utilities Tuneup 2007, free down load for 30 days. I worked very well so i bought it after testing it for 6 months.
Hi,

since you are using AVG it one of the best, i would not change any thing till you run a full scan with AVG again, it's a spybot error i think not AVG.
