I know avast pops up (audio) and shows a screen where it tells you how to handle a virus when you are browsing online what about avg do they have a antivirus protection that protects when you are online?Which is better and why ? thank you

Avast's virus detection rates are superior to AVG, both scan your email; Avast can be scheduled for a boot-time scan where AVG can not.

In regard to an above answerer's statement that Avast flags things that you need, well, any antivirus can do that... that's why you quarantine suspected malware rather than delete it right away.
If you like to customize, don't use avast, because it will get rid of things you added yourself, because it's programmed to remove things that are not normally on a computer.
AVG - It gives you hints on affected or corrupt files then it cleans and gives you report on its activity time by time.
avast likes to delete files that you made need to use for things like yahoo and other messengers thinking they are virus's, i never had an issue with avg
