I was just wondering how to protect my PC from nasty lil virsues while I download?? I already have Norton antivirus n firewall protection.... however I play around with digital images and tagged signatures which requires alot of downloading large zip files.. due to my own lack of experience I didnt back up my system and 2 months ago I was infected with a nasty troajn virus that norton could not get rid of for less then 200 bucks.. needless to say I didnt have that to spend so I was forced to reformat the whole thing, losing a ton of personal stuff.. please help.. I have heard that people section off a portion of their hard drive for downloads so it cant infect their main programs but with out detailed directions I wouldnt have the foggiest idea as to how to do something like that.. sooo HELPPPPPP :) please...
Protection against viruses when downloading ALOT?vincent
Partition of your HDD, is not going to help your problem. The problem you have is Nortons. (I am a beta tester for just about every antivirus/antispyware and other software programs).
Nortons is the very worse junk on the market. Plus a hugh resource hog. Does not know how to find a virus or get rid of one if found.
Would remove and install an antiviurs that I have used for ten plus year and never had one virus enter my PC. Also used by the Govt., Of China. Has a state of the art background scanner that kills a virus in real time, the second you open a webpage, download any compressed file or regular file that has an embedded virus. Even kills any file that doe not have a valid publisher or valid Lic.
