Hi..my Norton subscription is up + I need new protection. Think Norton 2007 really slowed down my machine, so I'd like to know what else I can do. Running Windows XP Professional.

I'd get AVG....it's a very fine anti-virus program...very efficient, too, and is not a resource hog...and it's FREE. (Plus, it's always being updated...sometimes three or four times a day.)
And I'd use LavaSoft Ad-Aware in conjunction with it. It's a free spyware program, that will also pick up viruses as well.
If nothing else, download both of these and try them while you're deciding what other software to get.

Sorry I recommend anything norton for anti virus, and adaware by lavasoft for spy ware removal. I also recommend a complete back up of c every three months and a format. I do it all the time.
