don't work

they are updated every other week

and when they are updated regularly they are behind like 25 threats

why can't people just pay 50 bucks for a whole year of protection

and hourly new definitions and protection

Avast is BETTER than many PAID for AV programmes. I took Norton off a machine for someone, installed Avast and removed 10 infections Norton had missed for the last 2 months.

If you want to pay money for an inferior product, do not let us stop you, but there is plenty of GOOD software out there is free for personal use, and paid for by the corporate users.

Because Avast is one of the best free anti-virus, making competence with pay-to-use antiviruses.

I prefer it over memory-hog Norton, or cpu-eater McAffee.

Which one do you use?

I use to pay $40-$50 a year for Norton. My computer ran slower and Norton would occasionaly crash and sometime require reinstallation of Windows to get it to work again. In addition yearly I would need to reinstall Windows to get rid of what got past my internet security.

Now I use free protection and rarely have problems. I wish I could go back and get all the money I wasted during those several years I paid for intenet protection.
