I have tried all I can to speed up my computer. I just installed DSL. My antivirus program slows everything down now. Getting online, microsoft programs, word, etc...Any advice? If I turn off the antivirus program everything runs better. But, I can't be without protection. Help...

I had a problem like this once I downloaded spysweeper to get rid of any spy programs that the antivirus doesn't. If you want to go to their site and run a analysis to see if you have "bad stuff" in your computer. There are a lot of programs but this is the best one rated to take out the "bad" and you computer should run better.

Yes switch antivirus programs. You could try the free version of Antivir. It's the highest rated of all the free ones and the lowest on system resources of most any other.
Switch antivirus programs. I highly recommend Eset NOD32 or BitDefender Pro. Both are hands-down better than Norton or McAfee any day of the week.

If you still have a slow computer after that, try adding more RAM.
