Avast virus protection question?

I have Vista %26 I was going to download the version that is compatiable with it, which is Avast! 4 home edition. This is what is included in it:

Antivirus kernel Automatic updates

Simple User Interface Virus Chest

Resident protection System integration

P2P and IM Shields Integrated Virus Cleaner

Network Shield Support for 64-bit Windows

Web Shield Internationalization

So my question is do I need anything else to protect my PC? Sorry I am a little dumb when it comes to this area!!
