You must never install two antivirus software programs at the same time.

Because an antivirus program has hooks into the deeper levels of your operating system, parts of it would look like a virus trying to alter your operating system to any second antivirus software that was installed on your system. Worse case scenario would be that your two antivirus programs would start isolating and deleting parts of the other, and not only mess up each program, but quite possibly destroy bits of your operating system as well.

Kaspersky is a more effective antivirus program than AVG, however AVG is free whereas you have to pay for Kaspersky. If you are looking into FREE antivirus software than it would also be worth looking at Avast, I have tried both AVG and Avast, and while both are excellent I found Avast to be superior in function and usability.

If you are willing to PAY for your antivirus software, than I would say stick with Kaspersky, it's the best on the market in my opinion, and the one I use (and I've tried many over the years).
