I have disabled my XP firewall and antivirus protection, tried messenger 7.5 and 8.0, same problem. I've added myself to my friends list and given myself permission to view webcam but that also comes up with the same error. Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks!

I have heard of ugliness breaking mirrors, but never webcams. So sorry!
do you have profiles on your ID ?
sth the webcam starts with one identity , but people want to see you with an other profile
when your webcam is running , goto :
file
change identity
