About CrapCleaner...?

Hi! Recently I've noticed that my computer has been running rather slow. With all of the online PC games I play, I often have to shut down my antivirus protection. This could enable viruses to crall in. When I start CCleaner, there are a lot of checkable boxes. I'm particularily hesitant about the "system" one. These are the boxes: "Empty The Reycyle Bin" "Temporary Files" "Clipboard" "Memory Dumps" "Chkdsk File Fragments" "Windows Log File". I understand that CCleaner overwrites the files that are deleted but are still written on the harddrive? I don't want to lose anything important. Which of those are safe to check and clean?

About CrapCleaner...?anti virus software

CClearner is not designed to get rid of any viruses or spyware that you may have. It is designed to clean out the temporary files used by windows for certain things and to fix problems with the windows registry, usually registers left behind by deleted programs or from upgrading a program.

Clip board is where things go when you copy, cut and paste things. this box will delete all the things that you have cut or copied

Empty the recycle bin does just what it says, empties the recycle bin.

Temporary Internet files are files that were downloaded by your browser and saved to the cache. This will delete those files

CHKDSK will fix things like incorrectly reported free space and other file system errors. DEFRAG deals with fragmented files.

As far as I know, CHKDSK doesn't delete any files, ever, in fact it is more likely to create files out of data it finds under some circumstances (these files are one of the many that CCleaner removes!).

A memory dump is a log of a programs current memory usage, during a fatal error, a memory dump will be cleared, check this box to have it cleared by ccleaner.

good luck!
